With exam week just around the corner, I could easily notice that students are getting stress. Some are worried about piles of assignments yet to be submitted, series of tests to be encountered and of course notes to be revised and absorbed. Poor kids. What to do,as exam has been one of the effective means adopted to asses students' performance. I just can share with them some useful tips on how to cope with the exams stress.
I remind them to believe in themselves. They wouldn’t have been given a place on the course if they didn’t have the ability to do it. Therefore, if they prepare for the exams properly they should do fine, meaning that there is no need to worry excessively. They seem agree.
Secondly, don’t try to be perfect. Yes, It’s great to succeed and reach for the stars. But keep things in balance is much better. If you think that “anything less than A+ means you've failed” then you are creating mountains of unnecessary stress for yourself. Aim to do your best but recognise that none of us can be perfect all of the time. I hope my message is successfully conveyed and understood.
Besides, I advise them to take steps to overcome any problem they encountered. Any doubts on course material should be addressed immediately because getting stressed out won’t help at all. Seeing course tutor or getting help from class mates could be one of the way out as problems must be shared and resolved.Things should not be kept bottled up. The best thing to do now is to confide in someone we trust to alleviate stress and worry. Last but not least I tell them to keep things in perspective. The exams might seem like the most crucial thing right now, but in the grander scheme of the whole life they are only a small part. Exam is not everything, kids.
Pena Tumpul - Wish all of them the best
